Minister of Animal Resources Emphasizes the Importance of Scientific Research in Sector Development

The Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Prof. Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, affirmed the vital role of applied research and the contribution of university professors in increasing production and productivity in the animal and fisheries resources sector, considering it one of the fundamental pillars for achieving food security in the country.

This came during his meeting at his office with the Director of Bahri University, Prof. Hatim Rahmatullah, where the meeting discussed ways to activate the agreement signed between the Ministry and the University and to advance it to broader horizons in service of sustainable development goals.

The meeting stressed the importance of the Ministry’s contribution to the processes of rehabilitating and developing farms, poultry houses, and fish farms at the University in accordance with the latest technical specifications. It also highlighted the need to benefit from the available capabilities of the Regional Center for Meat Grading and Health in training and qualifying university students in the field of meat industry and food safety standards. Furthermore, an agreement was reached on the participation of Bahri University with its expertise and staff in the studies and designs related to the Animal Production City project planned to be established in Khartoum State.

For his part, the Director of Bahri University commended the significant support consistently provided by the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries to the University. He affirmed the University’s commitment to harnessing all its research and academic capabilities to serve community issues and to contribute effectively to the Ministry’s programs aimed at upgrading and developing the sector.
