Reuters: UN Report Reveals Details of Air Supply Network to Darfur

Reuters, citing a draft report by the UN Panel of Experts on Sudan, revealed the use of an air corridor between the Chadian capital, N’Djamena, and the city of Nyala in South Darfur to transport fighters and military equipment to areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

According to the draft, the Panel of Experts based its findings on information from four sources, satellite imagery, testimonies, and data provided by UN member states. The report concluded that the flights were used to transport fighters, including foreign elements, along with weapons, drones, and other military equipment.

The report indicated that the transports were carried out via frequent flights between N’Djamena and Nyala. The Panel of Experts is continuing its investigations into the military supply networks linked to the RSF.

Reuters reported that the draft, scheduled to be submitted to the UN Security Council in September, documents the continued flow of weapons and fighters into the Darfur region, despite the UN arms embargo on the region.

The agency added that it contacted the Rapid Support Forces and Chadian authorities for comment on the report, but had not received a response by the time of publication.
