UNICEF Delegation Visits National Medical Supplies Fund to Strengthen Partnership and Support Health Sector Recovery

Khartoum -The National Medical Supplies Fund (NMSF) received a delegation from UNICEF’s Global Supply Division on a visit aimed at assessing the Fund’s post-war situation and exploring opportunities for enhanced collaboration to support Sudan’s health sector.

Speaking to the press, the Director General of the Fund, Dr. Badr Eldin Al-Jazouli, said the delegation was briefed on the Fund’s strategic plans and toured its facilities to assess the extent of damage sustained by its infrastructure and warehouses as a result of the conflict.

He explained that the visit focused on aligning partner support with clearly identified priorities to strengthen the national medical supply chain. Discussions also explored areas where UNICEF could contribute, including expanding cold chain storage capacity, providing logistics support, and improving warehouse conditions to ensure the quality and safety of medical supplies.

Dr. Al-Jazouli added that the visit reflects a shared ambition to move beyond traditional assistance toward a more effective partnership that responds to the country’s actual recovery and reconstruction needs, particularly in light of limited resources and the significant challenges facing the health sector.

He concluded by thanking the UNICEF delegation for their interest and willingness to examine potential areas of support, expressing hope for broader cooperation that will contribute to stabilizing medical supplies and improving the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.

The delegation also conducted a field visit to the Fund’s warehouses and other facilities to gain first-hand insight into the institution’s operational needs.
