The arrival of Head of the Sovereignty Council, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, in the towns of Umm Sayala and Bara in North Kordofan State, the day after their recapture from the Rapid Support Forces militia, carries significant military and political implications. It reflects the leadership’s confidence in consolidating control over the two areas and confirms that the scenario of hit-and-run tactics or the militia’s return is no longer on the table. It also reinforces indications that military operations are moving towards the complete liberation of the Kordofan region in the coming period.
