Al-Burhan Inspects Liberated Areas in North Kordofan; Doctors’ Network Condemns Vandalism of Jabra al-Sheikh Hospital

Head of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, accompanied by the Governor of Darfur, the Governor of North Kordofan State, and the Commander of the Sudan Shield Forces, inspected on Monday the areas recaptured by the Armed Forces and allied forces in North Kordofan State.

The inspection tour included the army’s forward positions in the Umm Sayala and Jabra al-Sheikh areas, following military operations during which the army seized several strategic locations and towns in the state, inflicting heavy losses on the Rapid Support Forces militia, which left behind significant military equipment and ammunition.

On the other hand, the Sudanese Doctors Network revealed that the Jabra al-Sheikh Hospital was destroyed and converted into a military barracks by Rapid Support Forces militia elements. In a statement, the network explained that video footage from inside the facility showed the extensive damage and destruction inflicted on the medical departments as a result of acts of vandalism and looting during the militia’s control. This has rendered the hospital completely out of service and deprived thousands of civilians of healthcare.

The network condemned the targeting of health facilities and their use for military purposes, emphasizing that converting hospitals into barracks or operational headquarters constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, undermines civilians’ right to treatment, and exposes the lives of patients and medical personnel to grave risks. It demanded the protection of health facilities and accountability for those responsible for these violations.
