Government Welcomes UN Initiative for Prisoner Exchange

Ambassador Mohi El-Din Salem, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, welcomed the initiative of Pekka Haavisto, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Sudan, calling for cooperation between the Sudanese government, the Special Envoy’s office, and the International Committee of the Red Cross regarding the exchange of prisoners of war with the Rapid Support Forces militia.

In a statement to the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) on Thursday, the Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to the safety of its citizens throughout the country, emphasizing its adherence to legal and international procedures followed in such cases.
