Minister of Youth and Sports Reviews Challenges Facing Volleyball

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Adam, announced on Wednesday the start of a new phase for the return of volleyball after a hiatus in competitions. This will be achieved through the formation of a joint committee with the General Directorate of Sports, aimed at studying the current challenges and providing immediate solutions to get the sport back on track.

This came during his meeting at the Ministry headquarters with the board of directors of the Sudanese Volleyball Federation, headed by Khalid Hamad.

The meeting discussed ways to address the effects of the systematic destruction of sports infrastructure, focusing on developing an urgent plan to rehabilitate the Khartoum International Volleyball Development Center and prepare the Hashim Daifallah Hall and beach volleyball courts to host upcoming competitions.

In a related context, the Minister reviewed the arrangements for the national team’s participation in the African Championship scheduled to be held in Tanzania at the end of May, praising volleyball’s status as the second most popular sport in the country.

The meeting also witnessed the presentation of a modern investment vision that goes beyond traditional concepts to support the federation’s budget and ensure the sustainability of activities, amid complete agreement on the need to expand into states and educational institutions, and to allocate school playgrounds that are subject to direct technical supervision from the federation, in order to ensure the discovery of talents and support the base of spreading the activity.
