61 Killed in Kauda in Tribal Clashes by al-Hilu Forces

Sudanese Doctors Network announced the killing of more than 61 people in the city of Kauda, ​​including 9 children and 5 women, as a result of tribal clashes between forces of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) and the Otoro tribe, according to consistent testimonies from survivors.

The network expressed its deep concern regarding reports from Kauda and the surrounding areas, resulting from a dangerous escalation in violations against civilians over the past two weeks. It confirmed that these violations included extrajudicial killings and massacres, the burning of homes and shops, and widespread looting of property by forces affiliated with the SPLM-N led by Abdelaziz al-Hilu.

According to testimonies from survivors interviewed by the network’s team in South Kordofan, civilians were targeted directly and indiscriminately, resulting in the deaths of the aforementioned victims and causing widespread displacement and terror among the population.

The testimonies indicate that the Atoro region has become a scene of horrific violations. Villages surrounding Kauda have been subjected to systematic burning and restrictions on residents, with a complete absence of safe corridors for evacuating the wounded or delivering aid. This has severely exacerbated the humanitarian and health situation.

The Sudanese Doctors Network holds the leadership of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) fully responsible for these violations. It also called for the immediate opening of humanitarian corridors to evacuate the wounded, women, and children, and urged regional and international human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene immediately to protect civilians.
