FMoH Announces Completion of Preparations for Polio Response Campaign in 7 States

The Federal Ministry of Health announced the completion of preparations for the launch of the polio response campaign, scheduled for April 27-30, targeting seven states: Khartoum, Gezira, Sennar, White Nile, Kassala, Gedaref, and North Kordofan.

The campaign aims to vaccinate children under five years of age, with the participation of more than 7,000 health teams and volunteers, as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the mutated virus imported from neighboring countries, which is transmitted through sewage.

The Ministry emphasized that there is no cure for polio, stressing that vaccination is the only means of protection. It urged families to ensure their children are vaccinated. UNICEF confirmed that the vaccine is safe, authorized, and has no side effects.
