UN: RSF Continue to Obstruct Aid Delivery to El Fasher

UN Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq stated that civilians are unable to leave El Fasher, where hundreds have been killed, including humanitarian workers, and a large number remain “trapped inside the city, with no or no contact with the outside world.”

He added in a statement on Monday that the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stressed that the Rapid Support Forces’ continued obstruction of the delivery of life-saving aid to the city is “unacceptable,” and called for immediate and unhindered access to those trapped in El Fasher.

He said: “An immediate cessation of hostilities is crucial to ensuring the protection of civilians.”

For its part, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported that nearly 71,000 people have fled El Fasher and surrounding areas since October 26.

Many people arriving from El Fasher at the overcrowded camps in Tawila reported killings, abductions, and sexual violence along the way.

Haq said the UN and its partners are providing emergency assistance amid the dire conditions in Tawila, but stressed that these efforts “cover only a fraction of the needs due to funding constraints.”

The UN Deputy Spokesperson also said that violence has escalated sharply in North and South Kordofan states, leading to widespread displacement and suffering for civilians, with reports of children being killed and allegations of summary executions in Bara locality.
