A forum to raise awareness of mental health issues for children and adolescents

The National Program for Child Health at the Federal Ministry of Health organized today at the Al-Tarifi Wind Hall in the city of Kasala, in cooperation with Plan International – Eastern Sudan Offices, a forum to raise awareness of mental health issues for children and adolescents, as part of the celebration of World Mental Health Day, under the slogan “Mental Health in Humanitarian Emergencies.”

The Director of Maternal and Child Health, Dr. Ismahan Al-Khair, said that the forum is important, as it sheds light on an important issue: the mental health of children and adolescents, especially in light of emergencies, which need to build internal peace. She added that “this is why the forum came in the presence of children, adolescents, and families with the relevant ministries.”

The Director of the National Program for Reproductive Health, Amal Mahmoud, confirmed the existence of a national strategy for the health of adolescents and adolescents, based on the regional framework of global health, which took into account the needs of these groups, appealing to them to manage their lives with what benefits them in the future, and then said that they are promised a number of services.

The Director of Mental Health at the Ministry, Dr. Hiam Ibrahim, noted that the conditions in the country have cast a negative shadow, especially on the segments of mothers, children and adolescents, which is reflected on mental health.

Ismat Babiker, from Plan International considered the forum the beginning of the right path, to draw attention to the effects of the war, the need for mental health services, and then come up with a roadmap.

The Acting Director of Child Health, Esraa Khalil, pointed out that the forum is to raise awareness of mental health issues for children and adolescents, and thus concerted efforts to provide a healthy environment to promote psychological support, praising the role of international and national organizations.
