Sudan: International and local companies to invest in Port Sudan Refinery

The Director of the Port Sudan Refinery, Hagwa Sheikh Mohamed Madani, revealed the interest of several companies in investing in the refinery, including Gulf, Russian, and Sudanese companies.

During her meeting with the Minister of Energy, Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed, at his office in Port Sudan on Thursday, she provided a detailed overview of the Port Sudan Refinery, its history, current status, and the numerous investment opportunities for the new Port Sudan Refinery project.

She reported that the entities that have expressed interest in investing in the new Port Sudan Refinery project include a Gulf investor, a Russian company, and the Sudanese company Petroneed.

For his part, the Minister of Energy confirmed the seriousness of the Gulf investor, indicating that he will visit the refinery soon and begin evaluating the project and setting a date for its inauguration.

The refinery is considered a key project within the vision for rebuilding what was destroyed by the war and the geographical distribution of oil facilities. It is a commercial refinery overlooking the Red Sea coast, designed to meet the petroleum derivative needs of Sudan and neighboring landlocked countries.
