Energy Minister Affirms Efforts to Stabilize Electricity in Eastern Sudan

Energy Minister Moatasem Ibrahim Ahmed affirmed the state’s commitment to serving citizens.

During his meeting on Tuesday with a delegation from Eastern Sudan, led by Mohamed El-Amin Tirik, he revealed the extent of the destruction suffered by the energy sector, including electricity and oil facilities.

He pointed out the ministry’s relentless efforts to complete the Kalanib electricity project, activate the Ethiopian interconnection, and increase the capacity of the power line linking Meroe, which will contribute to stabilizing the electricity supply in the eastern and central parts of the country.

For his part, Tirik welcomed the minister’s briefing and affirmed the readiness of the Supreme Council of Beja Nazirs and Native Administration to cooperate with the ministry and overcome obstacles.

He added that the ministry’s plan is comprehensive and will serve all parts of the country. He promised continued cooperation between the ministry and the council to achieve the communities’ aspirations for development.
