The Government of West Darfur welcomes the Security Council’s refusal to form a parallel government

The Government of West Darfur State declared its welcome and high appreciation for the statement issued by the United Nations Security Council on Sudan, in which it declared its total rejection of the announcement by the Rapid Support Militia regarding the formation of a parallel government in the areas under its control. This step represents a direct threat to the unity and territorial integrity of Sudan and exacerbates the deteriorating humanitarian situation.

The Governor of West Darfur State, General Bahr al-Din Adam Karama, considered this international position as explicit support for the sovereignty and independence of Sudan and a clear message of rejection of any attempts to divide the country or impose a fait accompli by force. He affirms that the people of the state stand united behind their legitimate armed forces in the battle to restore security and stability.

“We also appreciate the Security Council’s call to lift the siege on El Fasher and allow unhindered humanitarian access, stressing that these steps are an urgent priority to end the suffering of civilians in conflict zones,” he said.

The Governor expressed thanks and appreciation to the Security Council and its members. The State of West Darfur reiterates its full commitment to work with all regional and international partners to support efforts aimed at achieving comprehensive peace and affirms that the unity of Sudan as a land and people is an uncompromising principle.
