Sudanese Women’s Empowerment Workshop to Counter Hate Speech Concludes

Women National Group (WNG) participated in a workshop organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Port Sudan, in the presence of UNDP Resident Representative Mr. Luca Randa, Dr. Suleiman Al-Dabilo, Chairperson of the Peace Commission, and Ms. Catherine, Women’s Officer at UNDP.
A number of specialists in the field, women leaders from civil society organizations, activists interested in playing an effective role in confronting hate speech, promoting the values of coexistence, and mechanisms for negotiation and conflict resolution also participated in the workshop.

In the three-day workshop, several scientific papers and interventions were presented, focusing on the importance of confronting hate speech in local communities, enhancing psychological support, in addition to training participants on the skills of peaceful communication and resolving conflicts through dialogue and mediation.
In conclusion, the organizers stressed the importance of continuing this type of training program, to build the capacities of participants, expand the circle of beneficiaries, and achieve a tangible impact on the ground.
