Higher Education Minister: Return of Universities to Main Campuses Essential for Sudan’s Reconstruction

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof. Ahmed Madawi Musa affirmed that the return of universities and colleges to their main campuses, starting August 1, is a national and academic necessity that cannot be delayed, stressing the vital role of education institutions in Sudan’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.

During a visit to Al-Safwa College of Science and Technology in Khartoum Bahri, the minister praised the college’s efforts to rehabilitate its infrastructure and resume in-person learning, confirming that there will be no exemptions from the return decision.

He said the decision followed extensive consultations with higher education institutions to protect the quality of education and preserve the recognition of Sudanese academic certificates. The ministry will continue supporting universities in addressing challenges, including electricity and educational requirements.

The college administration confirmed its readiness to gradually welcome students back, after preparing classrooms and academic programs to restore full educational activities.
