Teachers’ Union Discusses Educators’ Issues with the Minister and Undersecretary of Education

As part of its ongoing efforts to defend teachers’ rights and improve their working conditions, the General Union of Public Education Workers in Sudan held a series of meetings led by its President, Mr. Abbas Habiballah.

The Union President met with Dr. Al-Tihami Al-Zain Hajar, Minister of Education and National Upbringing, to discuss a number of key issues concerning teachers and education workers, as well as the ministry’s efforts to support them.
During the meeting, the Union President emphasized the importance of providing a suitable working environment for teachers, describing them as the cornerstone of the educational process and the builders of future generations.

For his part, the Minister indicated that several positive developments and initiatives would be announced soon, which are expected to enhance the status of teachers and strengthen the education sector in Sudan.

In a separate meeting, a delegation from the General Union and the Professional Union of Sudanese Teachers, led by Abbas Habiballah and Mr. Nizar Al-Sheikh Wad Badr, President of the Sudanese Teachers’ Union, met with Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Omar Al-Aouni, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and National Upbringing.

During the meeting, the delegation discussed the major challenges facing teachers. The Union President reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining coordination with the ministry to safeguard teachers’ rights and enhance their professional standing. Meanwhile, the Undersecretary stressed the importance of partnership with the union and the professional association in achieving tangible reforms within the education sector.

These meetings represent an important step toward strengthening cooperation between the union and the Ministry of Education and reflect the growing attention being given to teachers’ issues, recognizing them as the foundation of building generations and shaping Sudan’s future. Investing in teachers is a direct investment in the stability of the educational process and the progress of the nation.
