Khatwa Women’s Center Receives Strong Backing from East Nile Locality Leadership

Mr. Osman Ali Al-Obeid, Administrative Director of Central East Nile Locality, visited the premises of the “Khatwa” Tailoring, Sewing, and Embroidery Group, a project supervised by Khatwa Humanity Organization. He was received by the organization’s Secretary-General, Al-Sadiq Ismail.
During the visit, the Secretary-General highlighted the importance of the center and its role in empowering women across East Nile, particularly in the Al-Shagla neighborhoods. The center provides training and capacity-building in tailoring, sewing, and embroidery, helping women improve their productivity, increase their incomes, access marketing opportunities, and contribute to meeting their families’ needs through sustainable work and production.
Al-Obeid praised the efforts of Khatwa Humanity Organization in supporting women and enhancing their economic capacities. He affirmed his readiness to provide the necessary support for the center and assist in advancing its various activities.
As part of strengthening cooperation with the locality administration, the Administrative Director invited the Executive Director of East Nile Locality, Murtada Yaqoub Banqa, to visit the center and assess its activities and needs firsthand. The Executive Director responded positively to the invitation and toured the facility, where he received a detailed briefing from the Secretary-General on the project, which was established in partnership with Sadaqat Organization. The project has already trained a significant number of women who have successfully begun working with competence and professionalism.
The Executive Director was also informed of the key requirements needed to ensure the project’s sustainability and future development. These include a complete solar power system to provide reliable electricity and operate the sewing machines, chairs for trainees, a teaching whiteboard, and fabrics for school uniforms to support both production and training activities.
Expressing strong interest in the initiative, the Executive Director instructed his office director to take the necessary measures to secure all the required resources. He also assigned Osman Ali Al-Obeid to follow up on the implementation of these directives and ensure that the needed supplies are provided as quickly as possible.
For his part, the Secretary-General handed the Executive Director an official letter outlining the center’s requirements. He expressed his appreciation for the support and attention the project has received from the locality leadership and commended their commitment to providing all necessary assistance to ensure the project’s success and continuity in serving women and the wider community.
