Minister of Energy Warns of Dangers of Illegal Electrical Connections

Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Al-Mu’tasim Ibrahim Ahmed, warned of the dangers of illegal electrical connections, which cause damage to transformers and deprive vital service institutions such as hospitals and water stations of electricity.

This came during his chairmanship today at his office in Khartoum of the periodic meeting of leaders in Sudan’s electricity sector, which addressed renewable energy projects.

The Minister directed the monitoring of implementation rates and the removal of obstacles facing the Kalanaib, Shendi, and Dongola wind power stations to increase generation rates.

The meeting focused on renewable energy projects (wind and solar power) to alleviate the burden on hydroelectric and thermal power generation, in addition to following up on the supply and installation of new transformers and their accessories to address bottlenecks and compensate for shortages.
