The Regional Office of the Geological Research Authority in Gedaref State, headed by Senior Geological Consultant Bashir Ahmed Hamid, held a joint meeting with the State Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources to strengthen cooperation and coordination in protecting natural resources and mitigating environmental impacts, with a particular focus on groundwater protection and enhancing environmental monitoring programs.

The meeting discussed several priority issues, foremost among them the status of groundwater resources in the state and ways to protect them from various sources of pollution. Both parties agreed to establish a joint database for geological and environmental information to support planning and decision-making processes. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening environmental monitoring programs, promoting community awareness, and encouraging the conservation of natural resources.

Furthermore, the meeting highlighted the need to improve institutional coordination mechanisms among relevant stakeholders to ensure sustainable and responsible management of natural resources. In a separate context, the Gedaref branch office of the Geological Research Authority held a joint meeting with the State Minerals Security Administration to strengthen coordination and technical cooperation.

The two sides discussed the importance of exchanging technical and security information and data to improve oversight and ensure the optimal utilization of mineral resources in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
