US Diplomat: UAE Interventions in Africa Exacerbate Conflicts and Threaten State Stability

US diplomat Cameron Hudson stated that the UAE’s interventions in Africa have demonstrated that the United Arab Emirates has not been a reliable partner in conflict prevention and resolution efforts. Instead, he described it as a factor contributing to the complexity and prolongation of crises.
Hudson added that Abu Dhabi’s interventions in several African countries have contributed to the entrenchment of “war economies” and the fragmentation of state institutions. He considered its approach to expanding influence within the continent to be at odds with German and European interests in Africa.
