High-Level Sudanese–Moroccan Talks to Enhance Judicial Cooperation and Coordinate International Positions
At the initiative and direct coordination of the Embassy of the Republic of Sudan in the Kingdom of Morocco, an official meeting was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Justice in Rabat. The talks brought together the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Sudan, Mawlana Ali Khidr, and his Moroccan counterpart, Abdelrahim Mayad, on the sidelines of the Sudanese delegation’s participation in the 42nd meeting of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force, held in the Moroccan capital.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Ambassador Mawadda Omar Haj Al-Tom, Consul Dr. Al-Jaili Mohammed Abdelhamid, and several directors from the Moroccan Ministry of Justice.
The discussions reflected the pivotal role played by the Sudanese Embassy in advancing legal diplomacy and opening new horizons for bilateral cooperation between judicial institutions in the two brotherly countries.
At the outset, the Sudanese Undersecretary expressed deep appreciation for the swift response from the Moroccan side, praising the strong historical ties and Morocco’s supportive stance toward Sudan in various regional and international forums.
He also provided a comprehensive briefing on developments in Sudan, highlighting systematic violations committed by the rebel terrorist militia against civilian infrastructure and property.
He emphasized the symbolic importance of the government’s return to operate from Khartoum, describing it as a strategic step reflecting the restoration of state authority and control.
In the context of strengthening bilateral partnership, both sides discussed ways to activate the joint cooperation agreement through the development of an executive program focusing on training and capacity building.
They also explored enhancing coordination on pressing international legal issues, particularly combating irregular migration, human trafficking, money laundering, and terrorist financing.
The talks concluded with both parties affirming their commitment to maintaining continuous consultation and coordination across regional and international organizations, in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports the rule of law in both countries.
