Strategic Planning Key to Revitalizing Student Welfare Fund, Says Higher Education Minister
The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ahmed Madawi Musa, emphasized the importance of strategic planning in improving institutional performance and enhancing the efficiency of higher education institutions and related services.
This came during his address at the opening of the second mandatory training course for the strategic planning team of the National Fund for Student Welfare in Khartoum State. The course is organized in cooperation with the Higher Council for Strategy and Information in Khartoum State and aims to strengthen the capacities of employees in the field of strategic planning.
The event was attended by the Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Othman Hamza, a number of state government ministers, the Secretary-General of the National Fund for Student Welfare, the Director of the Ministerial Executive Office Dr. Mortada Ali Othman, as well as state fund secretaries and participating trainees.
Madawi explained that such training courses significantly contribute to improving institutional performance and enabling employees to acquire the expertise and skills necessary to prepare and implement plans efficiently and effectively. He noted that planning represents the backbone of any institution seeking success and excellence.
The Minister stressed the importance of developing a clear strategic vision for the National Fund for Student Welfare for the post-war phase, especially after the significant damage inflicted on the fund’s administrative, residential, and service facilities in Khartoum State by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia. He affirmed that the next phase requires expanding and developing student welfare services in line with the state’s plans to improve the higher education environment and ensure the continuity of the educational process.
He also called for thinking of innovative ways to generate resources, given the loss of infrastructure and resources suffered by the fund due to destruction and sabotage affecting its institutions.
In his closing remarks, Madawi saluted the armed forces, regular forces, and volunteers, praising their sacrifices and efforts in defending the (nation). He also expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Khartoum State and his government for their continuous support to higher education institutions and the National Fund for Student Welfare, wishing for peace and stability to prevail across the country.
For his part, the Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Othman Hamza, affirmed that the state government places great importance on supporting higher education institutions and the National Fund for Student Welfare, considering them vital institutions that contribute to the stability of the educational process and serve students.
He explained that the state will continue to provide the necessary support to rehabilitate student housing and facilities damaged by the war, and to work on creating a suitable environment for the continuation of studies in universities and higher institutes.
He praised the national role played by the fund in supporting students and easing their burdens, calling for the concerted efforts of official and community actors to rebuild higher education institutions and achieve stability and development in the state.
