Government Advances Student Housing Improvements to Support Academic Stability

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ahmed Madawi Musa, affirmed that the ministry is moving rapidly to implement the directives of Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris regarding the preparation of a conducive environment for students in higher education institutions, including providing safe and suitable housing that supports their academic achievement. He praised the ongoing efforts to rehabilitate student dormitories.

This came during an inspection visit conducted by the Minister, accompanied by Dr. Mortada Ali Othman, Director of the Ministerial Executive Office, to the Abu Dujana Martyr Dormitory in central Khartoum, to assess the progress of rehabilitation .

The delegation was received by Dr. Ahmed Hamza, Secretary-General of the National Fund for Student Welfare, along with the supervising engineer of the rehabilitation works. The Minister was briefed in detail on the stages of work in progress and the plans in place to complete the required preparation (equipment/furnishings) according to the specified timeline.

The Minister toured the various sections of the residential complex and reviewed the level of rehabilitation and services being implemented, stressing the importance of intensifying efforts so that the Abu Dujana Martyr Dormitory can return better than before, contributing to student comfort and stability.

Madawi also noted that the noticeable improvement in the security situation in recent times has positively reflected on the regularity of studies in higher education institutions and the return of students to in-person classes.

Dr. Ahmed Hamza, Secretary-General of the National Fund for Student Welfare, confirmed that work is continuing at an accelerated pace to complete rehabilitation according to the required standards, in preparation for reopening several dormitories, foremost among them the Abu Dujana Martyr Dormitory, after the Eid al-Adha holiday
