Nyala Erupts in Tension Following the Assassination of Mayor Al-Doud Dawai

Nyala, the capital of South Darfur State, has been experiencing heightened security tensions since this morning between Janjaweed militia members, specifically the “Al-Turjum” group, and other militia factions. This follows the assassination of Mayor Al-Doud Dawai in the heart of the city, an act for which the militia’s intelligence services are accused.

According to local sources, the “Al-Turjum” group closed the Mecca Bridge this morning, deploying over 300 motorcycles and vehicles heavily armed. They also closed the main market after the killing of three militia members.

The security situation remains extremely tense, with reports of preparations for further clashes. The militia’s security forces have so far remained silent regarding these developments.
