Minnawi: We welcome Al-Nur Qubba, who has chosen the path of peace, and we strive to liberate the homeland

After meeting this afternoon with Major General Al-Nur Qubba, who has returned from the embrace of the rebellion, Commander Minni Arko Minnawi, Governor of Darfur, wrote the following on his Facebook page:
“Building a state requires a high degree of wisdom, compromise, and prioritizing the public interest, so that we may move steadily towards a better tomorrow worthy of our people’s sacrifices. The stage we are going through compels us to think responsibly about how to build a healthy society, free from hatred and resentment, based on coexistence and tolerance, despite the bitterness and pain left by the crises.
We have no choice but to cling to our unity as one people in one homeland and to reject all projects that seek to tear our country apart or impose agendas foreign to our national will. Once again, we welcome General Al-Nur Qubba and all those who have chosen the path of peace, laid down their weapons, and returned to the embrace of the homeland.
We affirm that the doors of the homeland will remain open to all who place the country’s interest above all else. There will be no peace with those who reject this option and cling to violence. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to protecting the unity and sovereignty of the country.”
We pledge to our people to work towards restoring security and stability, and we will spare no effort to liberate every inch of the homeland, no matter how long it takes, until the state returns strong and united, where peace and justice prevail.
