Arab League Condemns Attack on Khartoum International Airport

The Arab League strongly condemned the attack on Khartoum International Airport by drones launched from bases outside Sudanese territory.

In a statement, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit expressed his strongest condemnation of the attack on Khartoum International Airport using drones.

The Secretary-General emphasized that targeting civilian facilities and vital infrastructure, this time from bases outside Sudanese territory, represents a dangerous escalation and a threat to regional peace and security, exacerbating the humanitarian and security situation in Sudan.

Jamal Rushdi, the Secretary-General’s official spokesperson, quoted Aboul Gheit as affirming the Arab League’s full support for Sudan in preserving its security, sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and in maintaining its infrastructure and national institutions.

The Secretary-General also warned that such actions, regardless of their source, aim to broaden the scope of the conflict and undermine Arab, African, and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and create conditions for an inclusive Sudanese civil dialogue that preserves Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, and fulfills the aspirations of its people for security, peace, and stability.
