Second Session of the Political Consultative Committee between Sudan and Somalia Convenes
The second session of the Political Consultative Committee between the Republic of Sudan and the Federal Republic of Somalia convened in the Somali capital, Mogadishu. The Sudanese delegation was headed by Ambassador Muawiya Osman Khalid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, while the Somali delegation was headed by Hamza Adam Hadar, Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
During the talks, the two sides discussed aspects of joint cooperation and ways to strengthen bilateral relations, based on the deep-rooted historical ties that bind the two countries and their shared perspectives on regional and international issues.
Both delegations affirmed their commitment to elevating bilateral relations to broader horizons by expanding cooperation across various sectors and enhancing coordination and consultation in regional and international forums. This aims to serve common interests and reflect the depth of the bonds and shared destiny between the two brotherly peoples in the face of current challenges.
The head of the Sudanese government delegation expressed his deep appreciation for the sincere and fraternal stances taken by the Somali government, both its leadership and people, in their unwavering support for Sudan during the current crisis, which was ignited by the Rapid Support Forces militia with regional and international backing. He emphasized that these stances embody the depth of Arab and African solidarity and reflect a principled commitment to protecting national state institutions and preserving sovereignty.
For his part, the head of the Somali delegation stressed the strength and solidity of relations between the two countries, affirming the strong political will of both countries’ leaderships to propel bilateral relations towards broader strategic horizons, fulfilling the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and enhancing security and stability in the region.
