PM Inspects National Archives, National Library, and National Museum in Khartoum

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris inspected the National Archives, the National Library, and the National Museum in Khartoum, accompanied by the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism, and Antiquities, Dr. Graham Abdel Qader.

This visit underscores the importance of the antiquities that embody the civilization of the Sudanese people, as well as the documents, scientific references, and studies that were targeted for destruction, looting, and burning by the rebel militia. He toured the various departments and units and witnessed the extent of the damage.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of preparing the environment, ensuring cleanliness, and reorganizing documents and records, especially those that were undamaged. He also directed the rehabilitation of the premises according to a plan developed by specialists in the fields of documentation, antiquities, and libraries, so that they may be restored to an even better state than before. Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism, and Antiquities to prioritize the revival of cultural activities and folk arts that reflect the diversity of the Sudanese people, and to reinstate the folk arts troupe that once represented the heritage and civilization of the Sudanese people. He commended the efforts of the Khartoum State government and its ongoing endeavors to create a conducive environment for the return of citizens.
