On National Health Day in Sudan:
Sudan launches a national initiative towards a malaria-free Sudan led by the Government of Hope
The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) witnessed the activities of National Health Day, where His Excellency the Prime Minister, Prof. Kamel Idris, stressed that this day represents a historic milestone in the health march in Sudan, praying for the martyrs of duty, foremost among them the “White Army,” and praising the unlimited support of the Sovereignty Council for the health sector by providing means to control disease vectors.
Idris announced the initiative “Together Towards a Malaria-Free Sudan,” stressing that the Sudanese people are the most precious asset of the state and that the eradication of malaria contributes to strengthening the national economy. He thanked the Federal Ministry of Health, international organizations, and the United Nations, especially the World Health Organization (WHO), for their support of the project.
The Federal Minister of Health, Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, described the day as a “remarkable day for health,” noting that the initiative comes within the projects of the Government of Hope. He stressed the formation of a national committee to defeat malaria with firm steps and clear strategies, involving the private sector and international partners.
He emphasized that the fight against malaria will positively impact the economy and reduce other epidemics, calling on the media and society to actively participate in the success of the initiative.
