Sudanese-Egyptian Agreement in Geneva on Human Resources Development, Labor, Health, and Occupational Safety

On the sidelines of the International Labour Organization’s Governing Body meetings in Geneva, Sudan’s Minister of Social Welfare and Human Resources, Dr. Moatasim Ahmed Salih, held talks with Egypt’s Minister of Labor, Hassan Redad Ibrahim El-Sayed, on enhancing bilateral cooperation in vocational training, human resources development, employment, occupational safety and health, and labor inspection.

The discussions took place within the framework of the strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries. The Egyptian side expressed its full readiness to transfer its pioneering experience in vocational training to Sudan, particularly the model of mobile training units that deliver training directly to youth gatherings and local communities. These units specialize in fields such as home electricity and household appliance maintenance, as well as training programs for Women in sewing and supporting their productive projects, thereby contributing to the promotion of entrepreneurship and small-scale enterprises.

The two ministers agreed to organize a technical visit to learn about this experience during the upcoming Arab Labor Organization meetings and to activate a direct coordination channel through the Sudanese Embassy in Cairo to follow up on the implementation of joint cooperation programs and translate them into practical steps on the ground.

This cooperation is part of the Sudanese Ministry of Social Welfare and Human Resources’ commitment to rebuilding the vocational training system in Sudan and empowering youth and women with production and work skills in support of national recovery and reconstruction efforts, and as a reflection of the deep historical and strategic relations between Sudan and Egypt.
