Sudan Participates in API Summit, African Continental Professional Initiative for Public Finance Systems
Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mohamed Nour Abdelrahim, participated in the API Summit for Public Finance Reform (PFM Visionary Summit 2026) and Governance, held from March 23-27, 2026, in Johannesburg, South Africa, under the theme “Accelerating the Success of Public Finance and Governance Reform through Ethics, Best Practices, and Technology.”
As a keynote speaker and expert, the Minister of State chaired a specialized panel discussion at the summit entitled “Coordinating the Public Finance Governance System.” Experts discussed ways to enhance transparency and accountability in public financial management through integrated systems and digital transformation.
This active participation came within the framework of the Ministry of Finance’s efforts to strengthen regional and international cooperation, exchange expertise in the field of public finance governance, and learn about global best practices in using modern technology to enhance transparency and efficiency in managing public resources.
The meeting was attended by leaders of African and international professional organizations and financial leaders from 52 countries.
During his participation, the Minister of State affirmed Sudan’s commitment to moving forward with the reform program and implementing public financial governance standards in accordance with best international practices. He emphasized the importance of enhancing transparency and accountability in public finance management, which will support economic reform efforts and strengthen the confidence of citizens and international partners.
Advisor Mohamed Nour held several meetings on the sidelines of the event, resulting in understandings with the World Federation of Finance Professionals and LABAFA (the African Federation of Accountants). These understandings aim to initiate support for Sudan’s financial reform program, which the Ministry of Finance is currently developing. Support from partners is expected soon. A memorandum of understanding was also signed with the African Professional Associations, which will support financial reform efforts in Sudan.
