Agriculture Minister: 90% of Documents Recovered

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Professor Ismat Qureshi, announced the recovery of 90% of the archived maps.
Upon his arrival today (Thursday) in Gezira State, accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry, to assess preparations for the 2026 summer season, he indicated that the destruction of these maps was aimed at destroying the agricultural infrastructure.
Qureshi praised the role played by irrigation workers, according to press statements issued by the Ministry’s media department, and affirmed that the irrigation sector sends a amessage of hope that national institutions are capable of recovery.
For his part, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Engineer Daw Al-Bait Abdel Rahman, stated that 35,000 archived maps have been recovered out of 40,000, emphasizing that the archive contains a historical legacy spanning a century of agricultural projects. The Undersecretary of Irrigation reassured the public that the electronic archiving of some maps had begun in 2008 outside the irrigation buildings, which contributed to the retrieval of documents and their protection from damage or destruction.
