12 Injured in RSF Attack on Hospital in El Obeid

Twelve people, including five medical personnel, were injured on Monday when the Rapid Support Forces targeted the British Hospital in El Obeid, the capital of North Kordofan State.

The Sudanese Doctors Network said in a statement that the injured were performing their professional duties inside the British Hospital when it was attacked.

Some of the injuries were described as critical, and the network considered the attack “a clear violation of civilian and medical facilities that serve a wide segment of the population.”

The network condemned the attack “in the strongest terms,” considering it a grave violation of international humanitarian law, which guarantees the protection of medical facilities and personnel. It emphasized that targeting health facilities endangers the lives of patients and medical staff and undermines humanitarian efforts. The statement warned that repeated attacks on medical facilities constitute a dangerous escalation that could lead to the collapse of health services in El Obeid, a city that serves more than one million displaced people.

The Sudanese Doctors Network called on the international community, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to take immediate action to ensure the full protection of medical facilities and personnel, and to pressure the Rapid Support Forces leadership to cease targeting civilian and medical facilities.
