NSWF Launches the Fifth Student Activities Forum in Khartoum

Dr. Ahmed Hamza Al-Amin, affirmed that holding the Fifth Forum for State Student Activities Directors in Khartoum sends a strong message that Sudan has entered a recovery phase and that the capital has regained its leading role in hosting national events.

Addressing the forum’s opening session, the Secretary-General stated that the Fund’s return to operating from within Khartoum is practical evidence of the stabilization of the situation. He noted the opening of eight dormitories last week and paid tribute to the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity and the martyrs of the liberation of Khartoum State. He emphasized that student activities are now called upon to play a greater role in serving post-war students and rebuilding national consciousness.

He added that the closing events of the National Dignity Festival will be held in Khartoum, pointing out that the forum’s agenda includes new ideas that contribute to developing the student activities environment. He expressed his hope for practical recommendations that will bring about a real transformation in performance.

For his part, the Minister of Culture and Information for Khartoum State, Al-Tayeb Saad El-Din, described the NSWF as a key partner in the state’s reconstruction efforts, noting that the Fund was among the first institutions to return to Khartoum and provide services to students.

He explained that the Fund’s headquarters and dormitories served as shelters for citizens during the height of the war, and that student activities represent a cultural bulwark against the militia’s racist and hateful rhetoric by promoting the values ​​of unity and social cohesion.

He added that the issue of combating drugs is of great concern to the state government and is being addressed in partnership with cultural and artistic institutions and through the Fund’s various activities. He affirmed the state’s continued support for the Fund so that it can fully carry out its duties, while also pointing to the efforts being made to restore services, most notably the provision of more than 15,000 electrical transformers in preparation for the return of citizens.

In turn, the Director of the State Affairs Department, Qamar Al-Anbiya Ali Hassan, welcomed the participants and guests of honor at the forum and congratulated Khartoum State on the resumption of the National Theatre’s activities, considering its return a revival of cultural life in its entirety. He praised the role of theater stars as partners of the Fund in evaluating its programs and cultural activities, expressing his hope that the forum’s proceedings would produce guidelines that contribute to renewing and developing activities at the General Secretariat and state levels. He also thanked the governors of the states that hosted the Dignity Festivals during the past period, explaining that these events contributed to launching convoys to rebuild student dormitories in war-affected areas.

Furthermore, the Director of Student Activities, Mohamed Mustafa Hashim, reviewed the progress of student activities during the previous period, explaining that activities began early with the students’ return to universities despite the challenges. He noted the success of the festivals held in the River Nile, Northern, and Gedaref states, pointing out that the current forum would discuss performance reports and outline the plan for the coming year, in addition to presenting working papers on the role of activities in combating drug abuse, utilizing artificial intelligence, and the contribution of activities to moral and spiritual development.

He announced that the closing day would include the draw for the National Festival, scheduled for the end of April 2026, praising the efforts of the Fund’s staff who successfully restarted its facilities in all states, including Khartoum.

It is worth noting that the Fifth Forum for Activity Directors will continue until February 5th, with broad participation from activity leaders at the General Secretariat and in the states. This initiative aims to develop programs and enhance the role of student activities in nation-building and instilling national values.
