Port Sudan/
A high-level meeting was held at the headquarters of the Federal Ministry of Health under the chairmanship of Prof. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Federal Minister of Health, in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr. Ali Babiker Sayed Ahmed, the Secretary General of the Higher Council for Environment and Natural Resources (HCENR), Dr. Suleiman Al-Bouni, and a number of the Ministry’s leaders.

The meeting addressed a number of common strategic axes between the health and environment sectors, foremost of which are the effects of climate change on public health and its role in the spread of diseases, especially those transmitted through vectors, as a result of the major environmental transformations that Sudan is currently witnessing.

It was agreed to activate the “One Health” platform, which brings together the Higher  Council for the Environment with the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Forestry, and Livestock, to ensure a unified and comprehensive response to health and environmental challenges.

The meeting stressed the need to form a coordination mechanism that links all relevant institutions (health, environment, minerals, and water) to follow up on and monitor diseases with environmental roots and activate preventive interventions
