Khartoum hosts more than 26,000 expatriates from Darfur and Kordofan states

The Director General of the Ministry of Social Development in Khartoum State, Siddiq Hassan Farini, revealed that there are more than 26,000 expatriates from the states of Darfur and some of the states of Greater Kordofan in Khartoum State due to the ongoing war in those areas.

This information was shared during an extensive meeting held this afternoon, chaired by His Excellency, with the representative of the High Commissioner for Refugee Affairs in Sudan, Marie-Helen Verney, in the presence of the directors of the relevant departments and councils of the Ministry.

Farini praised the pioneering role that the United Nations agencies have been looking forward to in supporting the community of the state before and after the liberation of Khartoum State, especially in the field of psychosocial support, in addition to the fields of poverty reduction and project ownership for Vulnerable populations affected by the war are supported through national and foreign organizations.

Freini indicated that his ministry has developed some of the programs and projects provided by UN organizations and agencies to support groups affected by the war, ensuring that all segments of society are included.
