At the meeting of the Emergency Operations Center, the Minister of Health announces a major initiative to prevent epidemics at all levels

Reports confirmed the health situation in the country during the second week of 2026, where cholera cases were recorded in limited numbers in North Kordofan, with some suspected cases in the Tawil camp. No deaths were recorded during the last weeks.

Reports showed an increase in dengue infection rates in the four states of Khartoum, Gezira, the River Nile, and White Nile, which also recorded malaria infections. Additionally, the Gezira State continues to report infections with hepatitis E, especially in Um al-Qura, while measles cases have been reported in White Nile and South Darfur states, with no deaths.

The meeting reviewed the activities and interventions implemented by the various departments at the Ministry to confront epidemics, including the ongoing activities of the Response Department, the Departments of Environmental Health and Food Control, Health Promotion, Quarantine, in addition to the National Public Health Laboratory, as well as supply and disparity in abundance, and a report from the World Health Organization on support in a number of fields.

The Minister, Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, directed the preparation of a detailed report on epidemics, especially dengue fever, with the collaboration of the relevant ministries and authorities to be presented to the Council of Ministers, stressing the leadership of an initiative for prevention and its implementation at the federal, partner, and local levels.
