AcoGaps congratulates the Sudanese people on the 70th anniversary of independence
The African Center for Governance, Peace, and Transition Studies extends its warmest congratulations and best wishes to the Sudanese people, both at home and abroad, on the 70th anniversary of Sudan’s independence. This glorious national occasion embodies the will of a people who struggled long and hard for their freedom, dignity, sovereignty, and unity.
As this anniversary arrives today, it comes at a highly complex national juncture, as Sudan faces grave challenges that threaten its unity, security, stability, and social fabric. This has been the case since the outbreak of war in the country as a result of the rebel militia’s insurgency, supported by the United Arab Emirates and other countries. However, Sudan’s independence was not merely a historical event; it was—and remains—a renewed embodiment of sovereignty, the rule of law, and respect for human dignity.
This glorious national occasion compels us all to pause for reflection and responsibility, to remember the sacrifices of the generations who paved the way for independence, and to renew our pledge to protect its gains and work towards a Sudan where rights and freedoms are safeguarded, and where the values of good governance and social justice are firmly established.
AcoGaps affirms its commitment to continuing its role in supporting sustainable peacebuilding and promoting a culture of rights, believing that the independence of the state is incomplete without the independence of its people.
The Centre extends its sincere congratulations to the Sudanese people on this glorious anniversary, and to all members of the Armed Forces, Joint Forces, and those on mobilization, hoping that the 70th anniversary will be a turning point for restoring hope, unifying ranks, and moving towards a future worthy of the sacrifices and aspirations of the Sudanese people.
Glory to independence… eternal life to the martyrs, and sincere gratitude for the sacrifices of the Sudanese people… Long live a free, united, and secure Sudan.
