The State Child Welfare Council organizes awareness sessions to raise community awareness of Article 141

The Child Welfare Council in Khartoum State organized awareness sessions to raise community awareness of Article (141) of the Sudanese Criminal Code in cooperation with UNICEF within the framework of the definition of the article, which is (criminalization of female genital mutilation or what is known as female genital mutilation) and the sessions were held in the social centers (Abu Saad Center, Al-Mazahir, Al-Manara, and Sabreen Administrative Unit) to train community facilitators from the categories of youth, young women and women.
Mawadda Al-Siddique, the Acting Secretary of the Child Welfare Council, , welcomed the participants, stressing that the role of the Council is to protect, care and development for children, pointing out that raising awareness of Article (141) of the Child Law to raise awareness and activate the law, after a group of facilitators were trained in the past years and the societies announced the abandonment of the habit, and there were (6) societies ready to announce the abandonment of the habit, there was a regression, which requires more awareness.
The directors of the centers believed in the importance of reviving the development centers with programs, activities and charitable markets to display the products of women in the neighborhoods, in addition to training courses in various fields, targeting families.
