Agar Receives British Special Envoy to Sudan

Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, met yesterday with the British Special Envoy to Sudan, Ambassador Richard Crowder, whose visit to the country comes within the framework of consultations on the political and humanitarian situation.

During the meeting, he offered his condolences for the martyrs of El Fasher, who were killed by the Rapid Support Forces militia, noting the shock that gripped public opinion as a result of the horrific violations committed by the rebel militia.

Agar expressed the Sudanese government’s welcome for the British Special Envoy’s visit to Sudan, explaining that he briefed him on the humanitarian situation in the country. He pointed to the destruction inflicted on service and development facilities as a result of the terrorist militia’s attacks.

He said that he conveyed to the envoy the Sudanese people’s anger at the international community’s silence in the face of the violations against civilians. He emphasized that all the militia’s actions are carried out under the guise of seeking democracy or fighting Islamists, and at other times claiming it is a war against the 1956 state—a mere fabrication, the true aim being a new occupation of Sudan. He added that the militia’s contradictory slogans reflect their lack of a clear vision for the future.

Aqar stated that the envoy’s visit should have focused on the United Kingdom’s vision for ending the war, rather than on understanding the Sudanese government’s perspective. He pointed out that the government has presented a roadmap to all international institutions and diplomatic missions, especially since the militia’s crimes are being broadcast worldwide.

Agar expressed his gratitude to the envoy for his visit to Sudan, indicating that he had asked him to convey the messages he heard to his Western diplomatic colleagues. Emphasizing the Sudanese government’s commitment to achieving a peace that preserves Sudan’s unity and sovereignty, he added, “We cannot proceed with any agreement or platform that would bring militias back into the scene.”
