Minister of Cabinet Affairs Discusses Support for Displaced Persons with IOM Director

Dr. Lamia Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, met today in her office with Amy Pope, Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), to discuss ways to coordinate with the organization to provide necessary support to displaced persons in displacement camps, particularly those displaced from El Fasher following the recent violations and crimes committed by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the city’s residents.
The IOM Director explained that this visit comes within the framework of the organization’s concern for and solidarity with the Sudanese people in light of the ongoing displacement crisis in the country.
She pointed to the recent events in El Fasher and the resulting displacement of the city’s residents, which necessitates mobilizing resources and coordinating with local and international partners to provide all forms of necessary support to the displaced and to work on providing them with shelter and essential services.
