Minister of Higher Education: The Ministry has developed a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction and stabilization of higher education institutions

Professor Ahmed Mudawi Musa, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, praised the Armed Forces, other security forces, and those mobilized for the significant victories achieved on various fronts, including the defeat of the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia. He strongly condemned the deliberate violations committed by the rebel militia against unarmed civilians in El Fasher. This came during his address to a meeting of directors of public universities, held in person at his temporary office in Port Sudan, and also attended by directors from outside Port Sudan.

Professor Mudawi emphasized the significant importance of this meeting, particularly as the Ministry prepares for the start of the new academic year at universities. He expressed his hope that higher education institutions would overcome the hardships and challenges the country has faced, moving towards greater stability, rebuilding what was destroyed by the rebel militia, and completing the educational process. He affirmed that the Ministry has developed a comprehensive plan aimed at rebuilding, operating, and stabilizing higher education institutions, building capacity, ensuring quality and accreditation locally, regionally, and internationally, expanding technical education, and promoting scientific research and innovation. He noted that the arrangements and procedures for admitting students to the 2024 cohort are progressing well. He commended the considerable efforts made by university administrations, which have resumed their academic and educational activities from their campuses after beginning the reconstruction process, starting classes, and holding examinations for their students. This has contributed to sending a positive message to professors, students, and their families that the country is moving towards recovery and stability.

He also stated that the Ministry has allocated scholarships for the families and children of martyrs of the Battle of Dignity, and affirmed his Ministry’s commitment to addressing the conditions of universities in Darfur and western Sudan. Kordofan and peace in the safe states. He added that the outcomes of his international engagements were aimed at activating academic and research cooperation protocols with a number of sister and friendly countries.

For their part, the university directors provided a comprehensive briefing on the administrative, financial, and academic operations of their institutions, affirming their determination and resolve to continue fulfilling their educational mission despite the current circumstances facing the country.
