Freni Launches 16-Day Campaign Against Violence Against Women

Siddiq Hassan Farini, Director General of the Ministry of Social Development and the Acting Minister, inaugurated the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women, organized by the Women and Family Department at the Ministry of Social Development, with the participation of civil society organizations under the slogan “Be the One Who Was Strong.” His Excellency addressed the program, saluting the steadfastness of Sudanese women everywhere, especially in Khartoum State, declaring his solidarity with women in Darfur and Kordofan who have suffered from these issues and have been systematically targeted by the Rapid Support Militia, yet remained strong and steadfast in their defenses. This occasion marks the fight against violence against women.
He stressed that the slogan is a message from the state of Khartoum to the whole world in the war, which has not undermined its pride and dignity, and he conveys the greetings of the Sovereignty Council through the Chairman of the Committee for the Preparation of the Environment for the Return of Citizens to the State, the Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, the Governor of Khartoum and the state government, who are supporters of women’s issues and stand in support and support for them until they overcome all adversities and difficulties.
He pointed out that the society has won with Sudanese women as they make a milestone moment in the future of Khartoum State by designing different roles and in a language that exceeds all possibilities, also saluted the martyrs who went honestly defending women’s honor and stressed that victory is inevitable.
For her part, Hajar Ismail, Director of the Women and Family Department at the Ministry, confirmed her welcome to every loving heart, every hand extended, and every strong voice that defends women’s rights and opposes violence, indicating that the campaign was launched in 1991, which is a global movement to combat violence against women, and includes many parties, and thanked all the attendees and organizations participating in the campaign, which lasts (16) days.
The representative of the Network of Organizations Working in the Field of Protection, Hisham Ramadan Jabara, said that they were martyrs for the violations that women were subjected to in all the states of Sudan. However, they accepted the challenge, carried the shayla, and provided lessons that we will not forget in patience and steadfastness.
He stated that, as organizations, they are working in full coordination with the Ministry and UNHCR to provide all the necessary assistance and support, especially to the camps that include those coming from Darfur and Kordofan.
