The Workshop on the Review and Approval of the Strategic Plan for Cholera Preparedness and Response 2026-2030 Concludes

The Federal Ministry of Health, represented by the General Directorate of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, concluded a workshop on reviewing and approving the Strategic Plan for Cholera Preparedness and Response 2026-2030 in Kassala State , announcing the formation of a small committee to finalize the touches before the holiday.
The Acting Director of the General Directorate of Health Emergencies and Epidemic Control, Dr. Al-Fadel Mohamed Mahmoud, stressed the active role of partners from government organizations and sectors in the success and completion of the strategic plan to combat cholera, which focuses at this stage on areas with high risk and vulnerability to cholera, which includes 52 localities in Sudan
The Director of the Early Preparedness and Capacity Building Department, Dr. Mohammed Awad, said that a great effort was made in drafting the five-year strategy from the technical team, headed by Khaled Al-Jamri and Dr. Saber was accompanied by participation from all departments of the Ministry, and partners from international and UN organizations.
The Director of the Federal Emergency Operations Center, Fadl Abbas Makkawi, confirmed that the strategy came at the right time, in terms of the spread of epidemics, especially cholera, and thanked the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Regional Office represented by Dr. Khaled Al-Taher, the National Expert Dr. Babiker Al-Maqbool, and the National Expert Prof. Abdel Qadir Ali Bashir, who supervised the preparation of the plan, and UNICEF organizations and the Patient Support Fund, for the continuous support of emergency management.
Dr. Amer Ali Othman, from the World Health Organization, confirmed that the strategy is the result of the efforts of the various departments in the Ministry, which will see the light of day soon after the completion of its final form.
