Minister of Human Resources Meets His Counterpart in the State of Qatar

The Minister of Human Resources and Social Welfare, Mutasem Ahmed Saleh, met with the Minister of Social Development of the State of Qatar, Ms. Buthaina bint Ali Al-Jabr Al-Nuaimi, at her office at the Ministry. The meeting discussed all issues of humanitarian and social cooperation between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Welfare of the Republic of Sudan and its Qatari counterpart.

The Minister expressed his deep appreciation for the State of Qatar’s continuous support to Sudan in the fields of relief, development, and reconstruction through its leading institutions: Qatar Charity, Qatar Red Crescent, and Qatar Fund for Development. He stressed that Sudan views Qatar as a strategic partner in the fields of social development, women’s empowerment, and social protection.

The meeting reviewed the repercussions of the current war and its impact on the social and living situation , and discussed ways to support programs for the rehabilitation of care homes, orphans and women survivors of violence, in addition to cooperation in child protection and family care, training and capacity building, financing small projects and empowering women.

The two parties agreed to form a joint technical team to identify areas of cooperation and develop a comprehensive concept of a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries that addresses aspects of partnerships, sets priorities for social protection programs, including supporting health insurance for vulnerable groups, and exchanging experiences in the design and implementation of social welfare policies.

Minister Buthaina Al-Nuaimi affirmed the State of Qatar’s full support for the axes that have been agreed upon, and the readiness of her country and its charitable and financial institutions to provide technical and financial support for priority projects.

The Minister expressed his deep appreciation to the government and people of Qatar for the spirit of sincere brotherhood, stressing that the Sudanese-Qatari partnership represents an effective model of humanitarian and development cooperation that serves millions of beneficiaries of vulnerable groups in Sudan.
