Important Clarification Statement from the Press Office of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism

The Press Office of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism issued an important clarification statement regarding the role of the official government spokesperson. The following is the text of the statement:

We have received numerous questions and inquiries recently regarding the nature of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism’s responsibilities and its role with regard to the official government spokesperson, especially in light of the lack of statements issued by the official spokesperson during the recent period. Accordingly, and out of our belief in the importance of transparency and our keenness to clarify the facts to the public, we would like to clarify the following:

Since the appointment of the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism, Mr. Khalid Al-

Eiser, for a second term on Thursday, July 17, 2025, and his joining the Government of Hope, and immediately after his swearing-in, he was informed that the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism is not concerned with the affairs of the official government spokesperson.

This decision, like other decisions related to merging some ministries and separating others, was issued by the Government of Hope, as part of the new government structure and in accordance with the Prime Minister’s vision.

From this perspective, the press office affirms that the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism operates in harmony with the rest of the government ministries, fully committed to the directives and principles of good governance, the provisions of the civil service, and institutional administrative procedures, in an effort to change outdated concepts.

This clarification stems from a sense of transparency and a sense of national and moral responsibility toward the generous Sudanese people, especially after the recent increase in talk about the duties of the official government spokesperson. These duties were previously under the Ministry of Culture and Information before the formation of the Government of Hope, and before the ministry’s name was changed and its mandate expanded to the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism after the formation of the Government of Hope.

Today, after the first ninety days since Minister Al-Eiser’s appointment, and with the ministry being burdened with responsibilities outside its official responsibilities—duties that fall outside its purview—we hope it is clear that the reason for the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism’s failure to issue statements on behalf of the official spokesperson over the past period is that the spokesperson’s duties do not currently fall under the ministry, according to the vision of the Government of Hope.

Therefore, it is not objective to burden the ministry with burdens outside its defined scope. We emphasize that the ministry will do everything required within its defined mandate and as dictated by national duty.

We ask God for success and guidance for all, and that He help us serve our country, each according to his or her assigned duties, specializations, and known powers, in a manner that fulfills the hopes and aspirations of our great people.
