Sudan Signs Regional Health Cooperation Agreement with Yemen, Somalia, and Djibouti

Professor Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, Minister of Health, signed the joint cooperation agreement for the health alliance between the four countries: Sudan, Yemen, Somalia, and Djibouti.
The agreement was attended by the health ministers of the concerned countries and the Director of the Department of International Health, Dr. Alaa El-Tayeb Mudather, with coordination and technical support from the World Health Organization (WHO) office.

The agreement aims to enhance regional coordination in various areas, including resource mobilization, health planning, and combating epidemics and diseases, thus enhancing the efficiency of health responses in the signatory countries.

It was agreed to hold the first meeting of the joint mechanism in Sudan next January, God willing, marking the beginning of a new phase of technical cooperation and health integration between the four countries.

This agreement is the result of months of technical meetings, with the participation of the Director-General for International Health, and represents a strategic step toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for Health, especially in light of the common challenges these countries face, such as climate change, the movement of displaced persons, and the threat of outbreaks.
