Editorial: World Mental Health Day

World Mental Health Day takes place every year on 10 October. It’s a reminder of the importance of good mental health and the need to prioritise and invest in good mental health.

This year’s theme is ‘access to services – mental health in catastrophes and emergencies’. The theme highlights the importance of people being able to protect their mental health in times of global instability.

On this day, we remind ourselves that true peace begins from within, and that human development is incomplete without caring for our mind and spirit as we care for our body.

After the war, loss, and displacement that Sudan has experienced, mental health has become a collective responsibility—a responsibility towards ourselves, our families, and our community.

Supporting mental health awareness means supporting positive transformation, promoting social peace, and empowering individuals to be more capable of rebuilding and participating in nation-building.

On this day, let us all begin to spread a culture of support, understanding, and listening.

Every reassured soul is a building block on the path to peace.
