The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior discussed the arrangement of the legal status in the state of Khartoum.

The Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Derf, met today with the Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Babiker Samra.

The Minister of Justice stated that the meeting discussed common issues related to the enforcement of the rule of law, as well as urgent matters concerning law enforcement.

He added that the meeting also addressed the conditions of detainees under investigation and trial, along with the measures taken in this regard. He mentioned that the Minister of Interior briefed him on the significant efforts made by the Ministry of Interior, adding that “we found that all police stations in Khartoum State are working effectively and efficiently, and all the means and forces required to uphold the law have been provided.” This has great implications for citizens in Khartoum State.

He indicated that the Ministry of Justice will review the legislation related to the work of the police to enable them to carry out their duties and perform their duties to the fullest, including the immunity of the policeman while performing his duty.

The Minister of Interior said, ” we saw great interest from the Ministry of Justice in the legal issues that were discussed, which are related to the work of the police, the tasks it performs, and the arrangement of the legal conditions,” adding that the Minister of Justice confirmed that there will be an urgent treatment of the conditions of detainees under trial, which are closely linked to the Constitutional Court.

The Minister of Interior praised the efforts of the Ministry of Justice in arranging the legal situation and correcting some procedural issues that need amendments in some laws.
